Generally, in order to release information protected under FERPA, student consent is required. However, one exception to the requirement of student consent is when information is released to a College official with a legitimate educational interest. Since the information provided on this form is pertinent to a student athlete and is delivered to the Athletics Department, student consent is not required as representatives of the Athletics Department are College officials with a legitimate educational interest. Providing this information to the Athletics Department is compliant with FERPA regulations.
