Hudson Valley Community College Athletics has announced Katie Pryor (Softball) and Romeyn Murray (Men's Lacrosse) as the Viking Athletes of the Month for March, recognizing their outstanding performances to open the spring season.
Pryor, a sophomore infielder from Troy, N.Y., and an Exercise Science major, has been a dominant force at the plate for the Vikings softball team. Through eight games, she is batting an impressive .500, recording 14 hits in 28 at-bats. Pryor has showcased both consistency and power, tallying seven doubles and two home runs while driving in a team-high 14 RBIs. She has also scored nine runs, added three stolen bases, and posted a stellar .964 slugging percentage. Beyond her on-field success, Pryor plays a vital leadership role as a team captain and excels in the classroom, setting the standard for the program both athletically and academically.
On the men's lacrosse side, Murray, a sophomore midfielder from Averill Park, N.Y., and an Architectural Technology major, has made his presence felt across all areas of the field. In six games, he has totaled seven points on two goals and five assists, demonstrating his playmaking ability and offensive versatility. Murray has also been a key contributor defensively and in transition, collecting 17 ground balls and causing five turnovers. A team captain as well, Murray's leadership extends beyond game day, as he continues to achieve strong academic success while serving as a cornerstone of the program.
Hudson Valley congratulates Pryor and Murray on their achievements and looks forward to their continued success throughout the season.
