The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team fell to SUNY Orange, 87–72, on Thursday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex. The loss moves the Vikings to 0–2 on the season.
Hudson Valley kept things close early but trailed 44–32 at halftime after the Colts closed the first half on a strong offensive run. The Vikings continued to battle throughout the second half, cutting into the deficit multiple times, but Orange's consistent shooting and defensive pressure proved too much to overcome.
Kemontae Thawe paced the Vikings with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including three made three-pointers. Julius Reed added 18 points and five assists, while Malachi Harris contributed 11 points. As a team, Hudson Valley shot 39.4 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from beyond the arc while pulling down 32 rebounds.
The Vikings will look to bounce back on Saturday, November 8, when they travel to face Mohawk Valley Community College. Tip-off is set for 12pm in Utica.
