The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team continued its non-conference slate over the weekend, competing in the NECC Turkey Classic against host Northern Essex Community College on Friday and Roxbury Community College on Saturday.
Hudson Valley opened the tournament with a strong effort on the glass in an 81–69 loss to Northern Essex. The Vikings dominated the boards with a 45–30 rebound advantage, led by standout performances in the frontcourt.
Sophomore Jacob Baccaro delivered a powerful offensive outing, scoring 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Julius Reed contributed 15 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, and Ian Fisher-Layton played a key role inside with 12 rebounds (seven offensive). Kemontae Thawe added 14 points, including three makes from beyond the arc, and Fabian Wheatley provided a spark off the bench with 8 points and four assists.
On Saturday, the Vikings closed out Classic play against Roxbury Community College. Despite a tenacious push from Hudson Valley's guards, Roxbury's defensive pressure helped the Tigers claim the 79–46 result.
Fabian Wheatley led the Vikings with 13 points, while Jose Munoz-Pastrana posted 8 points and Julius Reed added 7 points in the effort.
The Vikings are on the road again for their next pair of games on Saturday, December 6th at Cayuga and Sunday, December 7th at Finger Lakes.
