12/6/25: HUDSON VALLEY 109 - 98 CAYUGA
Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball returned home from a successful weekend road swing after earning back-to-back victories over Cayuga Community College and Finger Lakes Community College. The Vikings now stand at 4–7 on the season and look to keep their momentum going as they prepare to travel to Rockland on December 9 at 7pm.
Hudson Valley put together its strongest offensive performance of the season in Saturday's 109–98 overtime win at Cayuga. The Vikings erupted for 18 points in the extra period, outscoring the Spartans 18–7 to secure the road victory.
Sophomore guard Julius Reed delivered a flawless outing, finishing with a game-high 32 points. Sophomore forward Jacob Baccaro was dominant inside, posting 23 points while adding nine made free throws. Sophomore guard Marcus Steele added a crucial spark off the bench with 19 points.
The Vikings shot with remarkable efficiency across the roster, with five players finishing in double figures and the team pouring in 91 combined points in regulation.
12/7/25: HUDSON VALLEY 90 - 67 FINGER LAKES
On Sunday, the Vikings controlled the game from start to finish, defeating Finger Lakes 90–67 behind another balanced offensive effort and improved defensive intensity.
Reed continued his strong weekend with 20 points, while Kemontae Thawe added 17 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Baccaro recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Fabian Wheatley contributed 13 points and six boards. Sophomore guard Ian Fisher-Layton stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
Hudson Valley dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lakers 48–35, and shot nearly 45% from the field while holding Finger Lakes to 36%.
The Vikings return to action on Monday, December 9, when they travel to Rockland Community College for a 7pm tipoff. Hudson Valley will look to extend its winning streak to three games as they move closer to .500 approaching the midseason mark.
