The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a 4–2 decision to Region III opponent Herkimer College.
The Vikings opened the scoring early when sophomore Camryn Curet finished a chance in the 8th minute, assisted by Michael Robyck, to give Hudson Valley a 1–0 lead. The advantage was short-lived as the Generals answered with two quick goals to go ahead 2–1 by the 13th minute.
Hudson Valley battled back just three minutes later, as Erik Najtellari connected on a header off another Robyck assist to bring the match level at 2–2. The score held until late in the second half, when Herkimer capitalized in the closing minutes with goals in the 87th and 89th to secure the 4–2 victory.
Robyck led the Vikings with two assists, while goalkeeper Juan Rivas finished with two saves.
With the result, Hudson Valley moves to 0-2 overall on the season.
The Vikings face Holyoke on the road on Saturday, September 6th at 3:30 pm following the women's game at 1 pm.
