The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team came up just short in a 2-1 loss to SUNY Ulster on Tuesday afternoon. With the defeat, the Vikings move to 5-6 on the season and will look to bounce back on Wednesday, October 15 at 7 p.m. when they travel to face Clinton.
Ulster struck first late in the opening half, taking a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute. The Vikings responded quickly after halftime as Logan Healy netted an unassisted goal in the 48th minute to even the score at 1-1.
Both sides battled for control in the second half, but Ulster found the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute to regain the lead. Despite several late chances, Hudson Valley was unable to find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Juan Rivas made eight saves to keep the Vikings within reach throughout the match.
The Vikings will look to regroup and get back in the win column when they travel to Clinton for a midweek matchup under the lights.
