The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team fell on the road Monday evening to Mohawk Valley Community College, 7–2. The Vikings battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie the match early in the second half, but the Hawks responded with a late surge to pull away.
After a scoreless opening half, Mohawk Valley broke through in the 50th minute on a goal from Francesco Tagliavini and doubled their lead just seven minutes later when Mario Camacho converted to make it 2–0. The Vikings answered with two quick goals to even the match, as Joseph Davis netted a goal in the 63rd minute before Camryn Curet capitalized in the 69th to bring the score to 2–2.
The Hawks regained momentum shortly after, scoring five unanswered goals over the final 20 minutes of play. Souayibou Diop and Bakir Omercevic each added tallies, while Camacho scored his second of the night to help seal the victory for Mohawk Valley.
Goalkeeper Juan Rivas made six saves in the match for Hudson Valley.
With the loss, Hudson Valley moves to 6–7 overall heading into the final game of the regular season.
The Vikings will return home to cap off their regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 22, when they host SUNY Broome at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
