The No. 10 Hudson Valley Community College softball team (2-0) defeated Columbia-Greene Community College (4-10) 6-1 and 13-3 on Thursday afternoon.
Dana Julian (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) recorded seven strikeouts, allowing only one run in game one against the Twins. Danielle McOmber (Cohoes/Cohoes) led the offense with a homerun, and Shannon Johnson (Averill Park/Wynantskill) and Shelby Fenton (Catholic Central/Troy) each added a double in the win.
The Vikings bats came alive in game two as Hannah Mochrie (Colonie/Colonie) went 3-4 at the plate with two homeruns and three RBIs. McOmber went 2-4 with another homerun and two RBIs, and
Hannah Hoffman (Averill Park/Wynantskill) went 2-4 at the plate with an RBI in the win.
The softball team hosts No. 2 Herkimer next Thursday at 3 p.m.
