Women's Basketball Holds Off North Country in Tight Home Victory

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team picked up a hard-fought home victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating North Country Community College 45-42 at the McDonough Sports Complex.
The Vikings led after each of the first three quarters and withstood a late push from the Saints to secure the three-point win. Hudson Valley took a 22-16 advantage into halftime before both teams traded baskets in a competitive second half.
Alessia Salierno paced the Vikings with 13 points, while Gracemary Baumann added nine points and Sanaiya Adams chipped in eight. Hudson Valley controlled the glass throughout the contest, finishing with a strong rebounding effort that helped limit North Country's second-chance opportunities.
North Country was led by Ondrae'yah Davis with 16 points, but the Vikings' defense came up with timely stops down the stretch to seal the victory.
With the win, Hudson Valley improves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Vikings return home on Saturday, January 17, when they host Jefferson Community College at 3 p.m. at the McDonough Sports Complex.
