Vikings Tennis Captures Region 3 Championship with 8-1 Victory Over Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance to secure the Region 3 Championship, defeating Mohawk Valley 8-1 and earning the title of regional champions. Head Coach Bruce Perry was also recognized for his leadership, earning Region 3 Coach of the Year honors.

The Vikings controlled the match from the start, showcasing depth and consistency across both singles and doubles play. In singles action, Bryn Fitzmaurice led the way with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Alyssa Robbins followed with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance. Juliana Gagliardi added another strong showing, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Sofia Petrushenko demonstrated resilience, bouncing back after dropping the first set to claim a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win, and Destiny Pipino secured a 6-3, 6-1 victory. GraceMary Baumann battled in a tightly contested match, falling 5-7, 5-7.

The Vikings continued their dominance in doubles play, sweeping all three matches. The duo of Bryn Fitzmaurice and Alyssa Robbins earned a 6-3, 6-1 win, while Sofia Petrushenko and Juliana Gagliardi took their match 6-1, 6-4. Destiny Pipino and GraceMary Baumann completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

With the win, Hudson Valley claims the Region 3 Championship and punches its ticket to the NJCAA National Tournament in Sumter, South Carolina. Competition is set to begin on May 2.
