The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team opened its season in dominant fashion on Saturday, earning a doubleheader sweep over Dutchess Community College and Monroe University–Bronx. The Vikings did not drop a set on the day, winning both matches 3–0.
Match 1: Hudson Valley 3, Dutchess 0 (25-10, 25-8, 25-10)
The Vikings set the tone early with a decisive sweep of Dutchess. Hayden LeFever led the attack with 15.5 points and an outstanding .900 hitting percentage. Lillian Fros added nine points, while Jocelyn Caputo chipped in 8.5. Setter Gabriella Kholstinin fueled the offense with 17 assists and dominated from the service line with eight aces.
Match 2: Hudson Valley 3, Monroe-Bronx 0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-23)
Hudson Valley carried its momentum into the second match of the day, defeating Monroe-Bronx in straight sets. Caputo paced the Vikings with 12.5 points and a .217 hitting percentage. Brooke Poutre contributed 7.5 points, while Fros added six on a .400 attack percentage. LaCouture (6.5 points) and LeFever (5.5 points) also made strong contributions. Kholstinin once again directed the offense with 26 assists and added two service aces.
The Vikings look to continue their hot start as they face Finger Lakes and Monroe at the Adirondack Pod on Saturday, September 6th at 12pm and 2pm.
