The No. 9 ranked Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team continues its historic win-streak as they remained undefeated, 14-0, following match sweeps over Genesee (3-0) and host Jamestown (3-0) on Saturday afternoon in Chautauqua, NY.
GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 3, Jamestown 0 (Final)
Hudson Valley extended its streak with a 3-0 win over host Jamestown, 25-9, 25-8 and 25-21. Leading the offense was Hayden LeFever (7 kills), Brooke Poutre (7 kills) and Lily Fros (6 kills), who combined for 20 kills. Hayden added three service aces on 10 attempts. Gabriella Kholstinin recorded her fifth straight match with at least 20 assists, as she tallied 26 assists in the three-set win over the host Jayhawks.
Defensively, Emily Coffey continued to lead the way, controlling the back line with 15 digs. Fros added three blocks (2 solo / 1 shared).
GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 3, Genesee 0 (Final)
Hudson Valley started strong again Genesee, a very competitive program, winning the first two sets with ease, 25-18, 25-14. In the third set, the Vikings had to fight their way to a 26-24 win to complete the match sweep.
In the match vs. Genesee, Kholstinin continued to orchestrate the Vikings offense as she tallied 21 assists over the three-sets. She added 10 digs and one kill. Kholstinin shared the ball well as seven Vikings recorded at least one kill during the match.
Leading the attack was Fros and LeFever, who each tallied six kills. LeFever added a team-best six service aces and four digs.
Defensively, Coffey finished with a team-best 19 digs, which ultimately helped set up the Vikings attack.
NEXT MATCH:
The volleyball program will continue to ride the winning wave into next weekend when they host its annual Region 3 pod tournament on Sunday, October 5 in the McDonough Sports Complex beginning at 12 p.m. The Vikings will play Onondaga and Corning at the south-end court.
